We just got back from a 30 hr long return journey from the Karnali river. It was a bit of an epic getting there and especially coming back. After taking out in the little village of Chisipani with the "second largest single strut bridge in Asia" We finally weaseled our way onto a bus bound for the East.. Eventually to Pokhra. Unfortunately the only space left was on the roof. So for the next 12 hrs overnight we bounced our way back, only switching buses twice again and haggling our way at every stop.. Yeah the joys of transportation here... I love it..?
Anyways the river was great. Big swirling waters and semi pristine jungles all around. One really good day of big whitewater and the other 3 were scenic and a little flat.. As with all rivers it is such a great way to see the natural highway of the land. Everything from monkeys and Python skins to Barking Deer! Most of all are the children here in Nepal. As soon as we are spotted they run along the banks sometimes screaming "namastes and bye byes" until we are out of sight..
We lucked out by camping on a beach that had ganja growing wild all around it on the first night, this set the tone for the trip.. Nice and chilled. As it should be no?
I will post some photos soon.
Soon we are off on another river, possibly the marsyandi, 4-5 days.. Should be sic.
